so I took some.

Picture showing where to start removing the mirror (as others have previous posted):

After undoing the long clip:

Haven't driven around with the mirrors yet, but I'm quite impressed by the massively increased field of view! Picture shown is of fluorescent lighting on the ceiling.

I got them new from a fellow AW member for $250 shipped.

VAG Parts sells them for $298.03 PER MIRROR; I think I had a good deal.
