    Consider the compression ratio alone, yes you need super's resistance to detonation at 10/10.5:1 compresson IF you are going under open throttle/full (advanced spark too) charge conditions, but not if you are granny driving it at half throttle-HALF charged on air/fuel mix. RELATIVE compresion and absolute combustion chamber pressure will stay low...how the heck would you get detonation on a a half-chrged cylinder? So, my Mom driving a umm....Passat 150hp or a V6...nope she does not need super.

    Super gas is not better quality, it has more detergents because it burns more slowly and NEEDS them. I could go on and on, but most guys here should use super except on road trips where you only need like 15-20 hp to go down the road and gas might be expensive.
