Sneak peek at the latest B6 A4 developments from the boys at Apikol...
Saturday the Apikol guys came by to help install a short shifter for my UrS4. They brought some goodies along, including their new A4 Side Mount IC upgrade. This thing looks very nice and very high quality. It is about 50% larger and has over 30% greater flow area. It will also fit directly in place of the stock Side mount using factory mounting and plumbing hardware...with NO extra trimming or fumbling around.
Although official numbers are not yet released, charge air intake temps are expected to be reduced by around 25 degrees, perhaps more. For under $600, this will be an excellent and cost effective upgrade for those who do not want to hassle with a FMIC install. Availability and performance updates will be coming soon.

Actually, there is discussion about creating another of reverse design for the pass side...
but the number of guys who want to do a set up like that may not be worth the R&D. There are some that have done the dual side set up with stockers, and for them they can at least upgrade one of them, for even more gains.

considering Audi already did the bulk of the work, I can't see this as having much R&D
1) reverse IC design for pass side
2) measure flow and identify restrictions based on OEM DSMIC piping
3) alleviate restrictions, if any, as needed
4) sell to us

Lol, intuitively you are spot on and frankly I was in the same boat. However, after discussing...
the process with Brian and Brendan, it became obvious that it is not really that simple. The cost associated with producing the end tanks alone is rediculous, and I think it is not so easy as to just "reverse" the mold. However if we can gauge enough interest here, and possibly take some pre-orders then it may be feasible.
