Average fuel consumption on a 3.0 ?
Ok, I'm still trying top pinpoint the problem with my 3.0
The thing that has me the most puzzled is the amount of gas this car is consuming.
On average what MPG are you getting city wise and under normal driving ???
Mine seems to be barely getting - 13MPG with almost no hard acceleration on my part.
:S

My 3.0 gets between 12 and 18 mpg city. Depends on traffic and...
my mood. If I am revving out to 6000 or so between shifts and am stuck at a lot of lights I'm looking at 12 or 13 mpg. If I shift early and there is not a lot of traffic I get around 17 to 18.
On the highway cruising at 74 mph w/cruise control I can get around 29 mpg. Again, if I drive a little more spirited I'm looking at around 23 mpg.
One last note, contrary to popular belief the 3.0 is not a slow car. Because of the ESP I think it might feel a little slow off the line, but let the engine rev until it does not pull anymore between shifts. Further, the chassis is quite stable so the illusion is that you are not going as fast as you would think.
If the above does not apply to you and the car is really slow. I would perform a full tune up to get everything in order.
Good luck.

You mentioned before the ECU calculation can be adjusted via va-com...
now that mine is WAY off because of the G3, I am thinking about doing this. I searched the RossTech site but couldn't figure this out. Thanks.

here.....(Vag-com MPG readout adjustment)
Module 17 - Instruments, Adaptation Channel 03.
The range is 85% to 115%, in steps of 5%
Changing the value to a smaller % will cause the MPG readout to go up (more MPG). Changing the number to a higher percentage will cause the MPG read out to read a lower number (less MPG).
