Default LA to Sonoma CA

Hi everyone! August 10, a beautifull day for driving up north on the 101. There is something special about driving over the Golden Gate with the top down. We drove 475 miles on one tank of fuel, getting 32.4 miles to a gallon, until stop and go traffic lowered that average. We look forward to the drive back to LA. The car is not used for commuting anymore, but when it comes ouf the garage, it gets a good run.

P.S. The '04, Silver/Blue 3.0 is doing great. It's a good road trip car.

Driving out of Sonoma to San Francisco with the top down, screen in the back and windows up. Very nice coming into town watching clouds cover the tops of the Golden Gate and feeling the cool air. After getting out of S.F. we put the top up until Solvang area. Had dinner and decided to drive the rest of the way with the top down. Good trip. No problems. This weekend I will have to find time for cleaning bugs and road crud off the car.

(Blitz Wax by One Grand, Porsche Cloth Top Cleaner & Protectant Spray, Mircrofiber towels, Connoly Hyde Care, Armor-All and lot's of elbow grease)

Posted this just to say that we still really enjoy having this car because of trips like this one.

Do you find the porsche cloth top cleaner and spray valuable?

Default Re: The cleaner works well on my blue top....

You mix it with water and use a very soft brush or a sponge. I usually do it just before washing the car. After I give the car a regular hand wash, I let the top dry completely before using the protectant spray. (You have to cover the windows, trim and body paint, I use tape and newspaper) The Porsche spray is sort of a Scotchguard product. The car is 3.5 years old and the blue top still looks good.

Once upon a time, we used to own a VW Cabriolet with a Snow White vinyl top. THAT was a lot of work to keep clean.

The Porsche products were suggested by my Audi service shop. I didn't want to take a chance ruining the look, feel or flexibility of the cloth top (our first cloth top car). I trust the stuff.
