After two new Audis, a 2001 A6 4.2 and a 2004 allroad 4.2, I bought a new 2006 Subaru Legacy GT spec.B, which I enjoyed so much that I bought a new 2007 Subaru Legacy GT spec.B because of its dramatically superior six-speed manual transmission and SatNav. My wife drives a 2007 Subaru Outback LLBean 3.0 R wagon. Unlike the Audis, which certainly are more luxurious and richer in features, the Subarus have been 100% reliable. I enjoy my spec.B, but its turbo-4 makes me miss the Audi v8. The Subarus have superb AWD. Nonetheless, I am thinking about ordering a 2009 Audi A4 avant or maybe even an A6 or A8 because I want the many features available on any Audi, not to mention the more spacious and elegant interior of an Audi. I do agree that a well-equipped Subaru comes awfully close to an Audi A4 in owner satisfaction for a lot less money and headache.
Current: 2007 Subaru Legacy GT spec.B.
For winter, 215/45VR18 Pirelli Sottozero tires.
2007 Subaru Outback 3.0 R LLBean (the wife's car)
We miss our Audis, but the Subarus have been troublefree.
Next: 2009 Audi, model not yet chosen
Gone: 2006 Subaru Legacy GT spec.B
Gone, but unloved: 2004 silver allroad 4.2 with all options except rear side air bags plus Nokian WR 225/55VR-17 tires on Ronal R-38 wheels.
Gone, but never forgotten: my gorgeous 2001 A6 4.2 pearlescent white with vanilla and royal blue interior and all options except sat-nav.
