On the last bit, yes, you can definitely have the car serviced anywhere regardless of where you buy.

Now... for the first three questions - when I purchased my 2001 via factory order I did an open solicitation to bid to every dealer in a 200 mile radius around my city. Then I shopped them all against each other, weeding out the ones who had no interest in doing a factory order and then getting down to a fair price. You may not have as much wiggle room with a brand new model year, but it's still the best thing going and it lets you do all the irritating cross shopping in a matter of minutes via email. Can't beat it with a stick. Just hit up the Audiusa.com website and do a dealer search around your zip code, get their email addresses and make up your form letter.

"I want to purchase this exact car, color, engine, option packages, etc." Be very clear that you want that precise car and if its not available you want to order one from the factory. No substitutes.

Then immediately weed out those who fail to follow instructions. Throw out the ones who claim they can't do factory orders and the ones who want to charge extra for a factory order, etc. Then you'll be down to a short list of straight up folks, talk price down to whatever extent you want and then when you're happy have them fax paperwork.

It's the only way to fly.

"Hokie, what makes you standout from so many other AWOT posters?"

"Well Bill I bring three uncommon things to AWOT: I have a degree, a job, and I actually own an Audi."
