Generation 6 ipod not compatible?

Anyone else having problems getting the latest greatest ipod to work with the latest greatest Audi? Audi site seems to suggest only gen 4 and 5 work? Mine only charges and never "connects". Awaiting response from dealer on what can be done, surely I'm not going to purchase an older gen ipod, if you can even find one. Mine is 80GB silver.

Re: Generation 6 ipod not compatible?
It is most likley the cable. I am a Brand Specialist at a Portland Audi Store and there are a few diffrent cables available. Here is a sheet on what cable you need for each application.

iPod Cable Compatability Sheet

Do these AMI cables come installed from Germany,
or is it left up to the receiving dealer to install the correct one? The reason I ask is because I have an '09 with NAVI and it has the blue grommet cable. According to your table, that's the wrong one.

you need a different cable. 6th Gen iPods use different pins to charge.
Apple warned everyone they were making this change a while ago, but it has still caused a mess with 3rd party products.

The change was to USB (vs firewire) charging circuits in the iPhone 3G and latest iPods.
He said his problem was not a charging issue but no connectivity for music. Still sounds like he needs the black (vs blue) grommeted AMI cable though.

Okay, the table may make sense even if others are having conflicting cables that work. I have 04 w/o NAVI but all black cable so will req my dealer (non responsive to my issues for one week now) to order me another the blue one. So I really appreciate the support here!!!
Oh, and to answer the ?, they do not come with the car so I waited about a month for dealer to receive it (maybe the wrong kind) but the topic of paying for a cable never came up so should be included, I think they just need to do a better job of supplying the user with the correct one depending on your needs..

Re: Generation 6 ipod not compatible?
The link discusses "iphone" to bluetooth compatability regarding the cable. How does this impact my gen 6 ipod? I guess I'm just curious who has the definite answer as everything I read on the forums is "could be" or "may be"...even my dealer can't seem to get me a definite answer. this ain't rocket science is it?
