    That depends on which version of "Quattro" you're talking about.

    The TORSEN center differential design, currently used in the A4/A5/A6/A8 is purely mechanical, requires zero service and does not require ANY wheel spin to tranfer torque front to rear.

    The Haldex versions, used in the A3/TT are different.
