Default My unbiased opinions inside...

Radar detectors in the order I prefer them. Now note that you're only half safe because most areas are using laser now and even though detectors can detect laser 99% of the time you're cooked if you're detecting it. As far as laser jamming is concerned I think Blinder makes an excellent product (<a href="http://www.blinder.net/">click here</a>). I will say these opinions are unbiased because I own an Escort Passport 8500 X50 and note where I rank it. Also when someone says, "I can't live without the arrows" it always leads me to ask what the arrows do that you can't live without. Who cares exactly where the source is coming from. I just want to know there is a source, possible more then one, and it's time for me to go speed limit. I think I've only had 1 situation with the arrows would have "helped" me, but never a situation where the arrows would have "saved" me.

Please Note: I think you'll be more then fine with any of the top detectors. If you're in an area where radar detectors are <b>illegal</b> the Bel STi is the only detector to consider.

All of the following radar detectors can be hardwired to your fuse panel for a clean install.

Now for the list:

1) <a href="http://www.escortradar.com/9500i.htm">Escort Passport 9500i</a> $449.95
<img src="http://www.escortradar.com/images/9500i-pm.jpg">

2) <a href="http://www.beltronics.com/sti.html">Bel STi</a> $449.95
<img src="http://www.beltronics.com/images/sti.jpg">

3) <a href="http://www.beltronicspro.com/rx65.html">Bel Pro RX65</a> $329.95
<img src="http://www.beltronicspro.com/images/rx65.jpg">

4) <a href="http://www.escortradar.com/8500.htm">Escort Passport 8500 X50</a> $299.95
<img src="http://www.escortradar.com/images/X50-red.gif">

5) <a href="http://www.valentine1.com/">Valentine 1</a> $399.00
<img src="http://www.1radardetector.com/images/PhotoDraw1932.jpg">

<b>Don't Buy</b>: <a href="http://www.escortradar.com/solo.htm">Escort Solo S2 Cordless</a> $329.95
<img src="http://www.escortradar.com/images/Solo-S2.gif">

Oh and I have experience with all of these, but the new Escort 9500i and the Cordless. I know the cordless is junk though and hardwiring is too easy to pay more money for an inferior detector. The 9500i is supposed to simply be the best detector ever and I rate it #1 on an assumption, so that that loosely, but still realize it could simply be the best ever.

Default I run the Passport SR7 w/ shifters paired with dual Lidateks

on the way to Portland for Quattrofest I got a direct laser hit from a bike cop and he stared me down as I drove by.

I saw him look at the radar gun, walked over and put it away then proceeded to get on.

I promptly radioed my brother telling him I'm exiting on the next offramp. Shortly after that he tells me a patrol officer passed him with his lights on.

The technology works. 9 confirmed laser hits and 0 tickets.

Default Well I don't jam the gun... it just doesn't get a reading

I don't know what type of laser gun is used and I don't know what a stealth laser is.

The transponders don't just detect a signal like a radar does... it detects and fires back a laser pulse which provides a null reading on the gun.

Does it work every time? Well if it didn't I would have a ticket. The 9 confirmed hits I have are from me watching the officer watch me cruise by wondering what happened.

For the motorcycle cop I'm sure he knew the laser gun worked and when I gave a blank reading he wanted to examine my ride.

Default 'Jam to Gun' is radar detector geek speak for jamming the laser operator's

signal until you are virtually next to him.

Something you might be capable of with your setup.

BTW, why the shifters and Lidatek?

Default yeah i should have clarified....

like you said jam to gun means you can keep getting closer and closer and the cop still can't get a speed reading or distance on you.

Some jammers/shifters are better then others.

Some don't jam to the gun and you get "punch through" which would be sort of bad. That's why I was curious if his setup is jamming to gun or if he hears the alert from the jammers and rails on the brakes.

Stealth laser is a newer type of laser that is even harder to detect, jam, and shift.
