Default My 2.8 Engine failed today!!!!

Under 16K miles, one year old.

I take it out on the road and a mile down the street the Check engine light starts flashing and the car starts running REALLY rough. Then the light stays on and the car runs worse. I pull off, looking at the guages.

Temp - fine.
Volts - fine.
Oil temp - all the way at 0. No reading.

I let the car sit for a while and then limp it home (2 miles), running AWFUL.

I think my oil pump died - and the engine died as a result. Thank Audi for warrantees. A co-worker had a bad flywheel on his 1.8T which took out the clutch, tranny, and engine at under 10K. Not good.

I'm taking a driving vacation to Vermont, leaving next Friday. I was planning on taking the car, I just spent $350 on a new bike rack from Audi (using my girlfriend's Trek bike carrier for the second bike) specifically for the trip. I'm friggin' hosed. >

Default find a dealer that will give you a loaner audi on AoA's tab.

so you can still use the bike rack.

if you're still under warranty, you're still making payments right? Warranties are supposed to cover these things... if not AoA customer advocate should make things right... you should not have to drive a POS GM loaner car when you're making payments for an audi for a warranty issue as serious as this.

Default My shop does give loaners....

But usually they're a little econobox. That's NOT going to cut it for me. I was planning a week long road trip vacation to Vermont with my and my girlfriend's bicycles on a sturdy carrier. And I want to have MY NICE 2.8 while I'm there!

-mad-.....

Default Doesn't the owners manual say if check engine comes on flashing, STOP

I hope audi honors your warranty! If the shop asks if you ran it after the light flashed, the answer is no.

Default tell them your story.

if you have a good dealer, they should understand at at least give you a loaner audi.

Gutsy move to drive it home w/ no oil pressure. Love those warranties!
