My oil light came on and I only have 2700 miles on the car. What should I do?

My oil light came on and I only have 2700 miles on the car. What should I do?
I called the dealer and they told me to just add 1qt of oil to it. Do you guys think that's ok? What kind of oil should I add? TIA!

First check the oil level yourself.
If it is indeed low, then add some regular 5W30 or 10W30, until you get it in between the low and high marks on the dipstick.
Sometimes new engines will consume some oil...don't worry, once the engine is broken in a little more, it shouldn't consume so much oil. By 5-10K miles your oil consumption should drop to almost nothing. In the time being, check the oil level religiously, and keep a spare quart in the trunk.
