First, I'll start with an overview. Admission is $7 dollars. Hot dogs are $50c. There is one port-a-john and lawnchairs behind a fence. The location is Smithfield, OH. 20 minutes into the countryside, at the fairgrounds. The track was surprisingly good. Excellent really. Simple tree at the start, and a win light(incandescent light bulb) at the end.
AWESOME. We had a blast running our imports against all those old school, back yard mechanic built hot rods. Some of which were pulling the wheels at the start.....and two would pop up when they slammed second gear. These old boys were making some power. There were a handful of alcohol/nitrous methane fueled beasts around....but most were your down home V8's with open headers. The only other German made car there was a MkIV GTI, the rest were turbo civics, integras...etc. There was a fairly impressive 240SX.....anyone care to field a guess what engine swap he did? . . . . . Yup. Skyline powered. Very clean, sounded amazing. No traction at all. That guy was in desperate need of slicks. My best time was a 9.28 with a reaction of .07x. Yes, 1/8th mile track. The GTI was running 9.5-10.0's. He was only chipped, zero other modifications. I have never felt the weight of the A4 like I did last night. What a HEAVY pig. My buddies 1st gen Talon FWD, which is moderately built running on Hoosier slicks, was down in the mid-to hi 8's. I know we have the same amount of power, just an enormous weight difference. All in all, good times. Is it possible to guess what my 1/4mi. time would be from this info?
