180 degree maneuver around a wet semi tight suburban corner. No cars coming (thank Jebus), ok, I'll just drive off this way then, I suppose. ~30 mph or so. Approached the turn very begnienly in 4th or 5th casually talking on the phone about how I just got pulled over (seat belt ticket > 4 point speeding (cop was cool "...Well officer I apologize if I was speeding but I just went through a yellow light and it is 60 degrees out, and moist, so I may not have anticipated the increase in performance that comes about under these conditions." )) "...I'll pop the hood just to show you this thing's not stock. I do pay attention to the speed limit because if I didnt I'd be doing 3 times it before I realized I was speeding and my record is clean" blah blah blah I'm just happy the cop was a white guy for once last 2 black cops both gave me unadulterated speeding tickets (on the 27th and 28th of the month, irrespective of the non-quotas they're NOT filling.) Vent, ah, better, So I was really surprised as I slowly approached this turn to have the *** let go and swap places with the front. My tires are pretty new (> 3K front, >10k back) and (supposedly) provide pretty good traction in the wet. In combination with my 'sane' speed and rather soft approach I was quite SHOCKED to feel/hear the back tires letting go and spinning the car out. Maybe I put to much confidence in the Quattro. Maybe you guys do too, I just had to share that harrowing experience with someone(s) other that my GF who wasn't happy I didnt slow down or even try to avoid the HUGE puddles on our short ride back from the bar. Maybe when encountering these deep (~4"-7") the rotors were coated with water, abs speed sensors temporarily drown, I really don't know. I just thought that the limits of the quattro were far in excess of what I was doing. Maybe the same **** would have happened if I hadn't been driving through those deep *** puddles. Maybe not. Maybe it was the fact that it hasnt rained around here for while and the oil + water on the road made it REAL slick. But it had been POURING for at least an hour prior to this incident. Ah, well, Whats really the point, now, huh guys? I mean its not like I'm going to find validation for my life in a response I guess the moral of the story is that quattro (as glorious and mighty as it is (and really it is) [my '97 went through 24" of UNPLOWED fresh snow fall like it had a LOT more than ~5" of ground clearance]) you still gotta slow down for the turns. Sometimes more than you can really believe. And I guess, also, no rear traction coupled to the best AWD platform in the world wont stop the back end from aggressively trying to catch up with the front. <sigh> Thank the good Jah nobody was coming the other way and that I didn't completely mack my **** into a tree, curb, bush, sign, etc. Although I think my love affair with the B5 A4 may have peaked and would be giddy at the thought of an insurance settlement ending the succubus that is my ownership of THAT car (Next stop; B5 S4, clearly) I didn't mean for it to be like this. Not like this. W/e, I'm sure nobody who started reading this so called "post" have made it to this anticlimactic, so-called, "end".

Any day, any conditions, I promise I can drive ANY (especially my f--king own) car better than you. I mean what information could you possibly have that may lead you to believe that my capacity to drive may be questionable. I have a "seat of the pants" sensor as honed as most any accomplished driver. I can feel where the car is, where it wants to be AND what its threshold is at any given moment. Goddamnit whatever, your jabs wont faze me, I just gotta remember not to take it personally. I'm starting to think I might've out grown the B5.... Oh and Uh, BTW; Your sig says your car is stock, maybe your time would be better spent doing you instead of making baseless claims of fact that you couldnt possibly know if you did. Oh, for starters I think they make a computer chip for the 1.8t that gives it like ~40-50 more hp and ~60 ft/lbs, tq. Might be a good place to start. In fact many 1.8t (and even a bunch of us 30v's [and 12ver's, respect]) owners have modded their vehicles in a variety of ways to improve indefinitely on the good thing that is the b5 in stock form. Really man, you got some nerve, I think just to shut POS like you the f--- up im gonna have to make a sig. One that says yeah its got upgrades. Like everything that shouldnt be stock, Which is a lot. You know they also make bigger turbos for the 1.8, they can really be fun. But 97% of this board knows that these cars start getting fun when you start tweaking them. ok ok ok... so now I got your number Dev, choose your words carefully in future posts to avoid my wrath and for God's Sake get some after market parts for your car and make it what it should be.
