X-post from B5 S4 forum: FYI: Replacement plastic screws/clip for the rain trays.
I was going to post this last night, but I decided to wait until morning to post this so people have a greater chance of seeing this thread. I figure some of you B5 brothers and sisters may have the same problem.
Anyway, in the past months or so I have noticed a few other threads started about the rain trays (the plastic trims, one on the driver side and the other on the passanger side, they sit below the windshield that prevents water from getting to the battery/ECU/engine compartment. On the passanger side, it covers up the pollen filter), myself included. As most of you may know, those plastic screws/clips will deform the minute you turned them the wrong way. I was under the impression and was told by the local Audi dealership that the whole trim piece has to be replaced, which runs about $50 or so. As it turns out, when I was ordering the trim piece, the parts manager passed by and told us that those screws/clips can be replaced. Anyhow, for those of you that cares here are the parts numbers: 8D0-819-643 and if you should also happen to lose the screw the main screw that holds the trim piece down against the pollen filter holder, the part number to that screw is: N-044-131-4.
It took some work to get the old plastic screw out as they can become deformed and fuse together when they were turned in the wrong direction. I had to pretty much destory the screw/clip and force them out.
PS: There is also a metal clip that holds the two trim rain trays together that many had lost already. I and at least one other person had posted that part number on here before. If you need it, just do a search you should be able to find it.
