recoding FWD/tip ECU to quattro/manual
I don't have access to a VAG right now (more specifically, I don't have access to a laptop running XP). Does anyone know the code I need to use to properly recode the FWD/tip ECU box that I got as a replacement for mine? Or are all the codes specific to individual cars?

For an AEB engine code 1.8T, with quattro/manual
Without traction control, with AWD: 06201
With traction control and AWD: 06301
Coding breakdown:
First 2 digits refer to the Leak Detection Pump, part of the OBD2 requirements here in the US. All US sold vehicles have one, so the first 2 digits are 06. Non-US vehicles would have 00.
3rd digit refers to drivetrain options. 0 is FWD without traction control, 1 is FWD with traction control, 2 is quattro without traction control, 3 is quattro with traction control.
4th digit is for transmission, 0 for 5 speed manual, 5 for Automatic Transmission 01V (Tip)
5th digit refers to vehicle type, 1 for A4.

Thanks for the help - I am actually looking for 2001.5 (AWM - 4b0 906 018 CH)
Is there a list of all the codes available somewhere? The problem is, I have to send both ECUs to APR to have them move their chip from the old one to the new one. I'm not sure that I'll be able to access the code on the old ECU once I get it back (since it won't have the control chip for the car anymore - not sure whether OBD-II still works in that case) and I don't want to get stuck with an ECU coded for a FWD car, not knowing what code to change it to. So I want to make sure that I can get the code from someone else before I send out the ECU for modification.

Ok then, for an AWM:
Coding table:
First 2 digits are 16 (USA ULEV emissions)
Third Digit:
0 for FWD with ABS
2 for AWD with ABS
5 for FWD with ASR/ESP
7 for AWD with ESP
Fourth Digit:
0 for 5 speed manual
5 for Tiptronic
Fifth Digit:
1 for A4
So for a USA A4 QM with ESP the coding would be 16701. Assemble your code dependent on your options.
