Any tips or tech write ups for replacing the MAF on a 2000 A4 1.8t?

"Open air box, remove old, install new" <-- that's instructions for Toyota
For Audi they go something like this:
1.) Take off the useless plastic dress-up panel on the airbox, which is probably the cause for overheating and killing ignition control modules
2.) Look for 10 minutes at the web of wires and hoses to see what you need to remove to open the box
3.) Spend 10 minutes unplugging them
4.) Realize that still wasn't enough and you can barely open the box to change the air filter
5.) You fight with the airbox like it's a live clam shell and you trying to stuff an air filter in it
Ohhh wait! That's the instruction for changing the air filter.

I swapped out the MAF recently on my 2000 1.8T..here's what i remember..
Use the link to get you started...
After Step (4) in that link,
1. Remove the 2 hoses connected to the front (facing the bumper) of the air box. These are held in place with clamps. One of them is bigger than the other.
2. The bigger hose has a clamp with a screw so you will have to loosen the screw, remove the clamp and then yank carefully. The smaller hose has a different clamp (no screw). The hoses will come off and the air box is free.
Note: I could not reuse the clamp on the smaller hose and i had to get one from the auto shop. I bought one with a screw.
3. The MAF is sitting inside the air box. Remove a couple of screws that hold the MAF and replace it. Make sure you get the orientation right.
Its pretty simple actually. I'm a noob and that explains my detailed instructions Hope this helps.

Air filter removal
