Climate Control Problem on a 2001
Problem: When starting out, the climate control starts pumping out really hot air. I have to turn the temperature down to the low 60s to survive even without a coat on. After about 20-30 minutes of driving, the temperature inside the car begins to equal the setting on the climate control and I can set it at the real temp I want.
Climate control diagnostic code shows 00.0, no malfunction present.
Checking the sensor readings, code #56, the headliner sensor, seems to read about 6 degrees C below the interior temp sensor in the panel (code #57). It does this both at startup and when the coolant comes up to operating temp. Haven't had a chance to check this after 30 mins.
My guess is that the headliner sensor is reading way low. Has anyone else seen this problem? And can someone check to see what their difference is between #56 and #57 at startup and coolant at normal operating temp?
Anyone know how to interpret the digital values (codes 2-9)?
Thanks from a newbie who's been lurking for a few months.

Sorry, didn't want everyone to have to STFA. Here's the procedure for checking codes:
Press and hold the recirculation button on the climate control. Then press the manual flow control up arrow. The climate control should display "1C". Then, press the temp up (+) or down (-) to select a code number. Press recirculation again to obtain the value for that code.

I have the same problem with my climate control A4 1998. Have changed temp sensor inside, moderboard but the problem is still there.
