Default Audi Fraud Warning - Go Motors - Boulder, Colorado

Short:
Greg Kotsaftis, Steve Armstrong and Go Motors are dishonest, unethical and lacking in integrity.

PLEASE TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE

LONG:
This letter to the owner was a last resort in resolving my issue. I have heard nothing since I've sent it. These people do not deserve your business.

Mr. Greg Kotsaftis
3270 Walnut Street
Boulder, Colorado 80301

Mr. Kotsaftis -

On January 31, 2004, I purchased a 2001 Audi A4 1.8T from Go Motors, in Boulder, Colorado. On January 30th 2004, a listing for the car was placed on cars.com. It caught my eye for two reasons - the car was listed as having Xenon headlights and the sport package. These two options were `must-have' criteria in my search for a low-mile used A4.

When I questioned salesman Steve Armstrong about both of the options on the evening of January 30th, 2004, both were confirmed. He proceeded to turn on the headlights of an "identically" equipped A4 in the parking lot, as the listed vehicle was at the detailer. I have had two reconstructive eye surgeries since birth and my night vision is poor at best. When I explained this to Steve, he confirmed that the vehicle did have Xenon lights, and I would find them superior to the standard equipment halogen lights.

I returned to the dealer on the 31st to inspect and drive the listed car. I again asked Steve about the options. Without hesitation, he explained it had the xenon lights, sport package, sunroof, and cold-weather package. He proved the existence of the sport package by pointing out the 3-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel and small red badge next the `T' on the rear deck of the car. These were the "tell-tale signs" as the suspension and wheels were not visibly indicative of the `Sport' package. I settled on the car that night and signed the Bill of Sale on the 2nd of February.

Two weeks later, I brought my car into Stammler Audi in Boulder for the scheduled 20,000 mile maintenance. I noticed that my headlights were not visibly brighter than my previous halogen equipped vehicle. I asked them to verify that the headlights were fully functional. Upon inspection, the service department found that Xenon lights were not installed on the car, nor was the Sport package.

I immediately took the car back to Go Motors where I explained the situation to Greg Kotsaftis, the owner. He told me he would rectify the situation, and order Xenon lights to be installed. Over the next week, I was fed excuse after excuse when I asked where my headlights were and when they could be installed. First I was told three days, then a week, then they were "somewhere in Colorado", finally they "were in the shop" and I was instructed to come by for installation.

I dropped my car off for service this morning to have the new headlights installed and the shocks verified for the possibility of the existence of a Sport package with non-sport wheels and tires. I walked into the shop area where I was greeted by Greg, who had not yet "gone over and picked up" the new headlights, completely contrary to Mr. Kotsaftis's claims of having the proper equipment ordered and delayed in transit for over a week.

When I picked up my car this evening, the mechanic gave me a quizzical look when I asked him what had been done with the Sport Package. When I started to head for the entrance to discuss with Steve Armstrong, he quickly jumped in a dealer car and left the premises.

Go Motors has again avoided resolution by installing a $20 headlight bulb, one that can be purchased at any auto parts store. No ballast, igniter, or Xenon light was ever installed in my car, contrary to your online listing, your speech, and your actions. I find your behavior unethical, dishonest and entirely lacking in personal integrity.

For the 2001 year of Audi A4's, the sport package, dealer installed, was a $950 option, Xenon headlights a $500 option. I never would have considered this vehicle had I known the price I paid included $1450 of options that do not exist. I will accept a check for $1450 or a complete installation of the missing OEM options.

If you had any strength of character you would honor your word, right your wrong, and give me what I paid for. After today, it is very clear you don't stand behind anything you say -- Shame on ME for ever placing my trust in a used car dealer.

Steve Armstrong, Greg Kotsaftis, and Go Motors will never be recommended to my family, my colleagues, my friends or my fellow alumni. You can be certain I will spread the word about the treatment I have received.

Default Damn Matt, this has been going on for a while......

Did the bill of sale say anything about those options and did you save or print a copy of the cars.com ad? I think you'll need those. If nothing else call the BBB or Tom Martino.

Default I have the listing off of cars.com. It's been faxed all over.

I've made claims with everyone I can. Its just BS. I'm more bothered by the way I was treated more than I am by the actual parts. They didn't even respond to the letter. Oh well, I'll personaly remove the $1450 of revenue from their dishonest little hands.

Default Good move on the listing......

I hate people that pull that bait and switch crap. Bury those idiots! Then lying to your face about it after you caught them, that's what really burns me. At least own up to it or say they made a mistake and take care of it. It's gonna cost them a lot more money now.

Default You should take this guy to small claims court...

Have a lawyer give him a call saying you're going to take him to court if you doesn't give you the money or install the parts required for a sports package...sorry to hear you've been going through this. It's really fu*k up for the lack of better words.

Default do you want a listing of the parts required to equip the car with those options....

its going to be much more than $1450..

The headlamps alone iirc are like $450 each for the HID type... Ballasts are like $350-400 each capsules are $175ish each probably more... The leveling motors are $40 each... Then there are the leveling sensors.... I dont even know how one would retrofit the car 100% stock with a HID system... as the leveling system is controlled by an additional module iirc.

The shocks are probably like $250 - 300 each... and the sport springs are like $400 for a set.

I assure you that you are looking at well over $3K in parts alone.... labor to do that work is probably in excess of 12-15hrs so thats another $1K or more...

Can you retrofit the car with e-code HIDs and a HID kit for $1K yes.... Can you do bils sports and vogtland sports for like $800... yeah ... thats still more than $1450.

Email me if you need a complete listing of all parts and prices.
