Default Midnight Modding brake job (A8 upgrade)

Thanks to the helping hands and moral support of RAD69, Wildkat, SilverStreakin, DigitalA4, and RKA, Friday nite's Midnight Mod-a-thon was a success. In addition to my brakes, mods included RAD's rear Neu swaybar and e-code wiring, SilverStreakin's APR exhaust tightening and "hoodrest mod", Digital's bypass valve swap and side skirt "stress testing" (lol), as well as bench flow-testing of numerous Amstel Light bottles. RKA supervised and pointed- his S4 of course needs no mods... Digital will post more pix of everything later- some great shots.

Pix below are of the A8 brake upgrade- consisting of drilled/slotted/cad coated rotors all around (A8 fronts), Hawk HP pads, and painted calipers (which were sandblasted, airblasted, cleaned w/ thinner, painted 4 coats, audi logo attached, 4 coats clear), finished up w/ a Motive bleeder and Pentosin fluid. Default They feel very strong...

but with slightly less initial grab. You need to apply a little more force, but when you get into them, they really haul you down. I think the initial grab may be a function of the moderately more aggressive compound of the Hawk pads (work better w/ a little heat, and a little more force). Pedal feel is GREAT, not mushy, no add'l pedal travel. And now i see what you meant by better modulation. They feel great. I'll just have to get used to the new modulation scale, which starts softer now than before, but goes very hard w/out locking up.

Default The swaybar is great!

I cannot believe that I waited soo long. The car handles much better - I had a stupid grin as soon as I took an exit ramp. Then started shaking my head - why did I wait???

I also cannot believe that Audi did not do this in the first place. It is the perfect compliment to the suspension. There is no negitive effect that I feel, it's all good...

Default that's what I expected...

with the heat/pad issue. The initial grab wouldn't be as nice as OEM pads, which is why I'd like to keep them in the rear or some equivalent. But, once up to temp... they're a great improvement. now, on to track time :-)

Did you get Tim's email about Entropy at Pocono? I'm hoping to be there.

Default Yep-

got a great deal from Tom during the holiday sale last month. I just got the slotted/drilled kit, no pads (got the Hawks elsewhere, didnt want Mintex). Got the rings logo from Tom also.
