Default I need tires, but I am not sure I can afford S03's, so give me suggestions...

I was thinking of the kuhmos, the new sport contacts, perhaps the dunlop 9000s....

dry traction with good wet are my 2 concerns. I am going 235/40/17s on 17x8 MM evos...

I still may get the S03's, but at $194 each, that is a bit higher than I would like to spend right now...

Default The Toyo-T1S can be 4lb lighter than an S03...

Id recommend the Toyo T1-S, the SP9000 is also a very popular tire....the Toyo has terrific wet/dry grip, quiet, comfortable ride...but poor turn-in. The T1-S and the SP9000 are the lightweights, the SO3 is a heavy ****.

BTW how come replacing tires already? They only had like 5-8k on them when you got them...

word.

Default if you can afford SP9000s, you sure can afford S-03s, can't you? ...

Isn't the price difference quite small between these two nowadays?

As far as low-end summer tire, people on VW Vortex are reporting positive results with the new Dunlop 901 - same price range as Kumho 712.

Default I'd recommend Kumho's or Bridgestone Potenza RE730's......

both are excellent, both are far grippier than the stock Dunlop SP8000 wet or fry, both are quite inexpensive.

I've had both, they're about equivalent.

Default what's a poor turn-in? ...

non-responsiveness to steering wheel commands?

Is it because of soft sidewalls?

ACK. The RE730s start sounding like A$$ after just a few miles!

Default So . . . STOP being such a CHEAPO . . .

Your tires are your car's interface to the road. Spend the additional money for better performing, quieter tires.
