Gas mileage

Gas mileage
Ok, today from San Francisco to San Jose and back, I drove roughly 90 miles and according to my gas gage I used about an 1/8 of a tank. The computer says I averaged 26.5 MPG
I think that is pretty damn good for a 6 cyl., rather heavy car. This is with the CVT and traveling an average of 80 MPH. Is everyone else seeing the same type of mileage?

Computer Gas Guage Lies
I've noticed that the computer adds about 2 miles/gallon on the readout. I noticed when my car ran out of gas when based upon the ave mpg readout I should have had 40 more miles. I have tracked it since and every time it is over. How about your cars?

Re: Computer Gas Guage Lies
Yeah I agree about the fuel gauge, I do 100 miles a day, 90mph and 26mpg per trip (2.4CVT)and I have a range of 350 miles showing on the range display.
I just about get 3 return trips out of a full tank and never let it go below 50 miles (just before it hits red) on the range display, just in case !
So I would say the readout is 10% over in most cases.

Re: Computer Gas Guage Lies--my speedo is off
My speed indicator is off by 5-8 MPH ( computer) compared with the analog gage. But I get tons of mileage out of my tank--400 miles a tankful average, higher when traveling freeway miles during a long trip.
So I think it's better to keep the A4 for a while then get the S4 Cabriolet. I've noticed that the S4 in Burlingame, CA as well as the two in Palo Alto, CA have not sold yet. They still sit, and sit, and sit with a $5000.00 mark-up.
This is a mistake since the car virtually looks the same. With premium gas hitting $2.60+ out here, I think they may have trouble selling them.

Re: Gas mileage
The computer in our cab (3.0 front wheel drive CVT) is pretty accurate. For years we have kept little "Auto Record" books in our clove compartments. (Good thing for tax records if you need it.) On a long haul from LA to Pheonix, I got 30 mpg! (70 to 75 mph) It gets around 21 to 24mpg in everyday commuting and city driving. This V6 with a CVT is getting the same milage as my VW Golf 4 cyl/5 sp.manual. We are very happy with the gas milage.
