Window grooves - debris buildup
How does everyone keep the gap around the rear windshield clean? This is the first vehicle I’ve ever owned where the windshield doesn’t sit flush against the body. Why is there a gap there anyway? Mine keeps getting filled with pollen, pine needles, and other stuff that falls from trees. If I wait too long to clean it out, it ends up falling down the channel to the spot just below the windshield in the middle and the junk falls into my trunk when I open it. This is driving me nuts during the spring!

This is the only other reference here that I can find to this odd "gap" between the windshield and the body panel:

I'm wondering if maybe a leaf blower would be good enough to keep the larger debris from accumulating in these grooves. Seems odd for Audi to expect owners to do this regularly though. Either that or I'm just having a very bad experience since I have 2 flowering trees on each side of my driveway where the A4 is parked.

Wait till you pop that trunk on a hard, rainy day and get the waterfall as the lid rises up.
When I visit our cabin, the pine needles accumulate from the trees I park under and the leaf blower does a pretty good job blowing those out. I always wash the channels on every opening in my car when I wash it. Hood, doors, trunk and even wipe down the engine bay from it's accumulation of dust. It's the only way to keep it as clean as possible.
Cheers,
