I have a different take on the preceding discussion. Yes, engine RPMs, and fuel efficiency are two important factors that Audi takes into consideration when programming the ECU. But there’s a third leg of the stool, which is Audi’s incentive to keep warranty repair work on the engine (and turbo) to an absolute minimum. Because there are always people who are going to thrash the engine! Unfortunately, for the common driver, the anti-warranty-repair safeguards that Audi implements have a tendency to neuter the engine in all RPMs. Which is why people driving 2.0 L engines commonly describe them as being weak and laggy. One way to make the engine appear more peppy is to shift at higher RPMs. But this comes at other costs, particularly FE and smoothness.
with my JB4 piggyback tune, using normal shift points in D mode I get noticeably better response from the engine and even slightly increased fuel economy. And since I am not trashing the engine, I am not likely to become a warranty liability for the company. I am simply enjoying the engine the way it is able to perform under normal conditions without the neutering.

I get a bit of creaking, apparently from the aluminum trim piece under the air vents in the sport package. But it's only for the first few minutes of the first drive of the day (or a second drive, many hours after the first drive). So it seems like a temperature related creak, not motion, as it will creak when the car is stopped for a traffic light.

@Oilsmoke - guessing you are asking about the emergency release - yes there is, it's behind the right side trim panel in the boot. There's a loop that you pull and then push on the fuel filler door to open it. Pg 319 of my 2017 Owner's Manual, yours may vary depending on the year.

I was in the Truck behind the wheel I can feel the Actuator release lock, more than a few times I did the double click on the unlock button on the key fob. Not even a sound out of it. So what do you can a boot? is that the panel inside the cabin, Right rear seat where the seat blet shoulder strap is? It looks like it's a snap in upholstered trim part?
Thx for any Help everbody.

From the trunk side there is No red emergency release handle/cable anywhere behind the right-side access panel. I have some Pictures offer the Actuator and we didn't even see any that looks like it is coming off it either. this is on an 2023 A3 .

You are in the Audi A4 B9 forum - I don't have any knowledge of where stuff is on an A3 is located.

I have A4 sorry for the Typo Not been one of my better days). I have to drive It to the Dealership about 60 miles away on 1/4 Tank on Monday. Audi been NO Help. I tried to look for the Red Cable, I was using a flashlight and Mirror to check. I really not think there is a Handle on the 2023 A4 Models.

Sorry my mistake - looked at a softcopy of the 2023 Manual and no mention of an emergency release cable. There's a Tip section in the manual about using the interior central locking switch but I don't know what that means. All the best for you to get this sorted.
