Default Next car -- what are your plans?

I've been waiting patiently for Audi to make an announcement as to what its next generation A4/A5 models will offer. Hopefully, it will be some time next year.

I'm curious about what others who are planning to get a new Audi in the next year or so are planning to do? Get an all-electric vehicle or an ICE one?

Any A4 owners planning to move up to an A5 ... or down to an A3? So far, I'm leaning to an A5 ... unless the new A4 electric is so spectacular it blows me away.

Some details on the B10 chassis have been released, as well as Audi's new naming convention. All ICE B10's will be A5 (S5,RS5) models, and A4 models will be EV's. As far as future plans go, we just bought our current cars this year (A4 Allroad and S5 Sportback) earlier this year, so it will be a while before we're in the market again. But it will be ICE, as I have no plans to buy an EV ever.

Another potential thing to consider with respect to EV ownership - expensive battery replacement costs after collision damage. This article surfaced to in the Vancouver area. ICBC is the Insurance Company of British Columbia and is the provider of mandatory Basic Motor Vehicle Insurance and one of the providers for optional Comprehensive Insurance of all BC registered motor vehicles.

Suspect insurance providers everywhere else in North America would likely have similar policies for EV coverage under their insurance offerings.

Yes, I know. That's why I asked if any A4 owners are planning to move up to an A5 or down to an A3 ... while mentioning the new A4 electric.

I know many here like the sportback variant of the B9. I prefer the sedan. I've had the current MY A4 Quattro from dealer as a loaner and don't find it any better than our /18 Quattro, PP, SP, etc. Our A4 only has 52K easy miles and I have extended warranty through 107K miles/summer 2027. Really no need to replace at this point in time. I don't want to miss the boat and be shut out of a decent sporty ICE sedan. Seriously giving thought to an S4 (although I do prefer the supercharged variant of the 3 litre engine that I have in my /15 A6 over the turbo engine). The current MY A4 just doesn't drive as well as our /18 -- maybe due to lack of the sport suspension -- and the one I had feels a little slower than ours (I had the quattro -- not the ultra with the lesser engine). Sad in my opinion that the automotive landscape is now predominantly SUVs -- no interest to me.

Best,
Jeff

Jeff, I too prefer the sedan. I had a SB but the sedan is quieter & doesn't have the frameless windows. I'm watching to get the last year for the fully ICE sedan(not hybrid).

I'm okay with the sportback but prefer the avant. Since we can't get the B9 Avant here I bought then next best thing (IMHO), the Allroad. I'm hoping they'll bring the B10 Avant to the states by the time I'm in the market again but I'm not holding out hope.

mikeru -- Avant -- yummy! Like RS6 Avant yummy! Audi club of America raffle -- check it out!
Aviator -- looks like you have an S4 -- would like your impressions about that car -- by the way, Daytona Grey Pearl is one of my favorite Audi colors -- very rich.looking -- love it.

Best,
Jeff
