When I bring my car in for service, I just unplug the OBD11 port. When my car is done, I plug it back in.

Thinking about getting this, where is everyone placing the unit in the engine bay that is secure from being tossed around and also relatively protected from the engine heat?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Theres a little flappy storage area under the hood at the base of the windshield on the drivers side. I keep it in there as I think most people do.

Installed JB4 on my 2018 A5 SB this week. Install was straight forward. The most time consuming part was removing the panel under the driver side dash. Not hard at all but slow and steady not to damage anything (some tips below on removal). The other thing I would recommend is to start with first installing the JB4 unit itself in the suggested compartment area. Then you can run your wires properly and make it look clean. If you plug everything in first you'll probably need to open the JB4 box and disconnect the harness so you can fish the wires into that compartment area (where the master cylinder is). Otherwise not scary or hard to do at all.
As for the results, I haven't had a chance to drive it much but so far there is a noticeable difference in power. Very smooth and strong pull. Looking forwarding to spending more time playing around with it.
Tips on removing the lower driver side panels, at least for the SB:
- Total of 6 hex screws that need to be removed
- 2 underneath
- 2 inside the small glovebox
- 1 in the fusebox area
Once those 5 are removed you can pull and popout the main panel which includes the glovebox door
- 1 underneath near where 1 of the first screws was this screw holds the final panel to give you access to the area you need. This panel has the OBD sensor attached.
Once removed and out of the way you can access the rubber boot to fish your OBD cable through into the compartment under the hood
