Yep, you are correct. I checked that first. There is no plug whatsoever. That is why I said I'll need to cut the hole and also replace the harness. I meant the wiring harness. Now to locate the correct one! Thank you for the heads up. To those who see this, check first for wiring harness first, because if it's like mine, the plug doesn't exist.

Looks as though the door module is identical for all three trims (
8W0959595M), so it appears to be just the wiring assembly

It's not only the harness, it's the actual door control module (that controls the windows, locks, etc) that may be different and won't allow you to plug in the new harness for the puddle lights.

The replacement door control module from the parts department may be the same but the OEM installed module may be different. You will need to check the part number of the actual module that is installed to see what it supports. German engineering at its best.

That's why each of the four A4's I've owned have been first-year models. Audi likes to pile on the features on the first year of each generation, and then remove them or make them optional on subsequent model years. My 2017 has puddle lights on all four doors. Only the fronts have Audi rings, but the rear doors can easily be upgraded to rings if I wanted to.
