Trouble filling A4 gas tank

Trouble filling A4 gas tank
Well, this is a first for me, but I am having some problems filling my Audi's gas tank. Basically the gas pump kicks off like the tank is full, but the tank is only a quarter full.
Has anyone else every seen this?
I was going to take it in, but I just wanted an idea on if this has ever happened to anyone else. For the record I tried two different gas stations, so the chance that I got two bad pump handles in a row is pretty small.

There is a pressure valve inside the tank. If it goes bad the pressure starts to build up and it triggers the pump shut-off. To fill up the tank you have to pull the fuel hose out and try again (before dealer fixes this, of course)

try a different gas station first
This happened to me once, it took like 10 minutes to fill the car up. Every 5-10 seconds, it would click off. I think its probably just that particular gas station/nozzle. Since then, I haven't had an issue.
I'm pretty sure if you go to the dealer and tell them this, they'll say..."umm, that means that you aren't putting in the nozzle correctly".

I have found that when this happens (on any car), if you rotate the nozzle from the straight up and down 12:00 position to the 2:00 or 10:00 position, it will work for you. You may have to hold the nozzle at that angle, but the handle will remain depressed.
In my experience, this is an issue with the gas pump, not the car... But then again, you said you tried another station with similar results... so I'm not sure.

I had the same problem too.. I dont think it is the gas station b/c I have tried many different gas stations. Turing the bottom of the pump to the 4:00 position does help. But I will check with the dealer too in case the car came with a defective part.

I had same problem... pump would stop after a few seconds. My friend was with me and I complained to him, and he said to not put the pump in so far. I pulled it out just a little bit, like an inch maybe, and didn't have the problem anymore.
I had tried different pumps before too, different gas stations even, was having the problem at them all until I figured it out. Try it and see if it works for you?
