Audi has VIN decoder charts for each model year. One of the docs they have on erwin.audiusa.com. But the 2010 one can be found in the 2009 A4 quick reference specification book pdf, which can be found via google search.

but you need an active subscription to open most of the docs. I got them when I got my workshop manuals there years ago.

Thanks big time! I paid the $35 and soon found where to find the tag on the trans itself which gives even more info. Mine was towards the front on the passenger side / car on jackstands. (diagram has black arrow on bottom left)
