i ended up getting the exact avant you wanted (ibis premium+ sport)
and if you want space, you probably did well to go for the lexus. the a4 is pretty small the ride not well suited to comfortable long range driving.

After my 1500 mile trip last week, I'd despute the "not comfortable for long range driving"..
At least with the non-Sport version. I had some concerns but turned out it was very comfortable even with hours at a time behind the wheel. And I just came from an A6.

Damnit! If it would have come sooner, it might have been in my garage. I hear ya on the driving though. After several long hauls with the B7 and its sport package, I wasn't really looking forward to taking the avant on any long trips.
