So... Audi officially lost another B8 Avant customer due to the lack of manual transmission.
I put my money where my mouth is, and bought a slightly used '07 with 11k miles instead. Saved 18k in the process, too.
The wagon goes to the wife. I've still got my '99.5 with 195k miles. In a few years, when the time comes to replace that one, if there's no low mileage used (or new) A4 Avant with stick on the market, I'll be buying from BMW or whatever company doesn't have their head completely up their butt about what distinguishes them from the competition.

Cheers to your new B7! It seems to be a good time to buy a car if you can 1) find what you want and 2) spend money.
I'll admit I'm just hoarding right now, too paralyzed to spend. Probably going to look back someday and say 'why didn't you...'

Good for you. I kind of expect that B9 will be forcing us all into that hard decision...
I almost expect Audi us/can to only bring manuals for S cars, RS and TT within the next 4-5 years. That is going to be a tough decision for me if it comes to pass.
I had originally wanted the sedan but after I saw the s-line avant I would have bought that if it was offered in manual.

That's what I've got in my B5 Avant (gray cloth).
I was considering replacing it with a B7 at one point. For awhile, you could only order black cloth (black is not an option for me), but at one point some medium colored options were available for order. Unfortunately I hesitated (given the B8's looming intro), and I'm now regretting it.
Cloth doesn't appear to be an option on the B8, although I continue to hope it (and a MT Avant) will show up before the B5 falls apart (not holding my breath, though!!).
