I got to my car the other day in the parking lot at work and found a surprise next to the passenger side headlamp. No one next to me though.
Any of you detail guys have thoughts on fixing this myself rather than going the professional route?

Try polishing first to see how much can be removed. For the rest you can use touch up paint then clear coat then wet sanding then polishing. Time consuming? Yes, better than repainting the entire panel and blending the the door? Hell yes!
Good Luck!

****ty...
If you want to try to repair it yourself, I'm sure (by the looks of the picture) that 90% of it could be polished out.
The edges where the bumper meets the fender looks deeper than just a surface scuff, and will need some touch-up paint.
Go out and spend $200 on a Porter-Cable 7424 polisher. It'll be the best 200 bucks you spend! This, and a bit of touch-up paint will probably take care of it nicely. It won't be perfect, but it'll do the job... plus, you'll have the polisher for the rest of your life, and you'll get addicted to polishing your car. Trust me... I'm a Porter-Cable crack-head myself...

A fairly inexpensive and low-risk suggestion is to try 3M Imperial Hand-Glaze. It's very mild but I find that it takes scuff marks like these off really well. Be sure to wax afterwards.

Thanks for the advice. I've been considering a polisher anyway, so this may be a good project to start off with. My concern is how phantom black pearl touch up paint will look afterwards.

It'll look 100% better that it does now Careful with the Porter cable, if you never used one before you can easily burn the paint. I'd recommend orbital polisher such as Flex 3401, best polisher I've ever used.
