I had word from a UK dealer today
They have heard it is coming to UK spec A4 (no surprise there) but have no potential dates as yet. That's pretty bleak news for anyone waiting for one over here and I'm guessing its worse news for across the pond.

A 2.0T DSG version is expected in Mexico next October.
Currently we're offered the V6 and just this week the 1.8TFSI versions started showing up in showrooms; both engines come mated to either "elite" or "trendy" equipment packages for the moment and only with tiptronic or multitropnic transmissions. I'm told the s-line trim and the DSG will be only available in the upcoming 2.0Ts.

How's that drab? 350hp, supercharger, DSG. That's S enough for
me, and at S prices, S enough to keep me from buying one (new at least). Was it missing the chrome mirror housings, what's so drab?

A S4 used to compete against the M3, now it no longer directly does.
The RS4 now competes against the M3, but I preferred this being a more limited edition car than what it now has become.
The B8 S4 should have been a turbo engine to crush the 335i...
Also no Avant for North America = lame...
The B5 S4 still remains the best car that Audi offered for the enthusiast.

Good point. I still think it will be a great car, but you're right if not going
against an M car the S may not be warranted. However, I like to think from the standpoint that the cars are what they are and I take the view that although BMW is clearly the benchmark, Audi is still a distinct company. As it stands I don't think audi wants to be matched up car for car with bmw, and I personally don't have a problem with that. And just like BMW distinguishes its 3 cars with a 25 28 30 35, I can't say there is anything wrong with audi using an S or A for its 4 cars. Right or wrong, I think the price will still keep the S4 somewhat exclusive.
And we will see about the B5S4 thing, as you know there have been conflicting ideas about how this forced induction in the S4 is supposed to work, this new configuration may prove its worth for tuners. I'm a little biased, I think audi is an exciting company.
