It pisses me off when I read this in the Q5 techno bableton:
"Audi is creating a new market segment: the Audi Q5, the new performance SUV, combines the dynamism of a sports sedan with an impressively versatile interior and multiple talents aimed at leisure and family use."
I just want to scream FOCUS ON THE A4 AVANT! Come on! The Q5 is just a Murano, Edge, X3, yadda yadda yadda. And the Q5 is just an A4 that they shortened and lifted. Big deal!
Blah!

There just isn't much call for station wagons.
I got nuttin' but "why did you buy" when I had my allroad. People just don't get avants -- here in the US, at least.

Exactly
Often, when I see an Avant [and comment on how cool it is] or mention that I would like to own one, the response I get typically ranges from a blank stare to an outright questioning of my sanity.
Rarely, if ever does my enthusiasm elicit a similar response.
If I were asked to pick any car to own/drive, with the only stipulation being that it would be the only car I would have access to [must function as a daily driver, but would cost me zero $$$], I'd probably be driving around in an RS4 Avant.

They should drop the new V6 3.0T (or 3.0 TDI) in the Q5. Now that would be a performance SUV
Audi has done well with the Q7, and it quickly became the highest volume car behind the bread and butter A4 in the U.S. Now that people are more focused on smaller vehicles, the Q5 might just work. I think they should drop the 2.0T in their though to make the most of it's mileage and overall torque. Avants sadly just don't sell here and for Audi to continue to grow, they have to sell cars people buy.
