If you had to downgrade from Audi, what would you get?

the new Mazda6 and Mazda3 are extraordinarily good looking. Like, really as good as Audi good.
If you can live with a coupe, there are many who feel the V6 Genesis coupe has better dynamics than a 328. just saying..

Passat. Large enough rear seat for children, generous size trunk to fit a regular size stroller and have room to fit groceries. Decent on gas mileage on the 2.0T (my 3.6 VR6 4motion is not however), and just a well built, safe car all around. If fuel mileage is a priority, I would look into a TDI. I looked into getting the CC, but didn't like the idea of ducking my head so low trying to strap my kids in, that get's old real quick. I have two kids, a 4 y.o. and 20 month old. We get along fine without a minivan.
Wife drives the upgrade while I get the oh so hum, downgrade:

My brother is looking for new cars and we test drove the Mazda 6 and Accord V6 last week. Both are very good cars, but if I had to downgrade from my A4 I would definitely consider the 6; the Mazda has a great looking exterior, clean interior styling with decent materials, and handles well for a mainstream family sedan. It also gets very good mileage, and after owning an 04 Mazda 6, I am partial to that model.

The Mazda 6 is a sweetheart but at least in my area there is not a dealer worth a damn. A Passat or Jetta would be a natural but maintenance is still on the high end and the service department will have you wishing for your Audi back. I am in the same situation, drive lots of miles and as much as I love an Audi it just doesn't make good economic sense. If I did my own maintenance it would be a different story. I am looking at the Honda Accord Coupe and sedan, as well as the CRV or Crosstour (I could just throw my bike in the back of those last two) but the CRV is, well, a CRV, and the Crosstour is otherworldly hideous but I know I can trust a Honda to pile the miles on and not have it break the bank to maintain. The problem is I have had an Audi and anything else is just anything else...

I recently test drove a 2013 GLI and a 2013 GTI - each with 6-speed manual transmissions. They were both a hoot to drive and had a lot of nice features, but they are certainly not comparable to an Audi. I had 12 VW's before switching over to Audi and even though they share so many parts, there is a huge difference between the two brands.
