Default '09 3.2 Corporate Lease Vehicles?

I've got a friend, not much of a "car guy," who is interested in buying a used '09 A4 with the 3.2 and I've been going along with him to look at several. We've noticed that there are a ton of '09 3.2's out there in our area (PA/NJ), with 5k-15k miles on them. Almost every one of them (probably 13-14 out of 15), whether at an Audi dealership or elsewhere, has a carfax report that comes up with "corporate lease vehicle." Most went into service in mid-late 2009, which means they were only driven for about a year. They were leased in various nearby states, but the carfax usually also lists "Alpharetta, GA." A one-year lease seems odd.

Anyone know what's the story on these cars? Audi employee cars, nobody wanted them new so they became dealer loaner cars, etc? The dealers aren't offering much info, and my friend wants to know what he's buying. I checked the carfaxes on a bunch of '09 2.0T's but pretty much all had private ownership.

Some companies do 12 mo leases for the employees.

Are they CPO'd? That would extend the warranty and help limit the risk.

A dealer loaner car will usually say Rental in the Carfax.

I have a 2009 A4 2.0. My dealer loans 3.2 A4s. They drive better than 2.0s and even seem to have a better suspension, wheel package. I have the sports package which drives like a go-cart. Go for the 3.2. They are great. My wife has a 2007 A4 3.2.

My 2.0 burns 1 qt. oil 1200 miles. 3.2 none. 2.0 mileage is a bit better though.

Corporate car probably was driven conservatively. Can you get service records from Audi?

I can help out with this!

I just bought a "Manager's Demo" from an Atlanta dealership. The car was owned by a company, who's name escapes me (sorry), that registered the car in Alpharetta. The sales person I was dealing with informed me that the dealership, for legal reasons, leases the cars from the separate company for managers and certain sales people.

No telling if the car you're looking at was a dealer loaner, or a manager's demo, or whatever, but it's probably not that sketchy.

Audi USA HQ is in DC metro area which means many of them get Audi vehicles.

This is probably what they are - thanks.

Some of them are CPO'd at Audi dealers and some aren't. The couple of Audi dealers checked out cars at had no problem showing the service histories, which didn't turn up anything odd.

The cars are all pretty clean and well kept. My friend will probably end up buying one.
