Default Power steering question

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but do our A4's have conventional hydraulic-assisted power steering, or is it electrically assisted? If electric, does that mean that power steering is still available even if the engine were to die? Just wonderin'.

"Servotronic" is a hydraulic steering system, not a fully electronic steering system. It however does use a higher-tech electric pump to supply the hydraulic pressure that allows the system to dynamically change the amount of assist.

When you lose all electric power, you'll probably just lose hydraulic assist and steering will be very high effort
