Default What's a good Trailer Hitch solution (09 A4 Quat)?

Hi,

I'm looking for a good DIY trailer hitch solution for 09 A4 Quattro. It will be used for a Bike Carrier.

Regards,

I use the curt trailer model C11186 hitch from etrailer. I use mine as a bike carrier as well; but I have used it to pull a jet ski once. Pretty simple to install. If you need any photos let me know.

Can you post a pic on how it looks. Different angles. I'm also looking for a bike carrier hitch on my 14 A4.

I was looking at the Curt but was wondering about the DIY install.

@van462 if you can post some pics that would be great.

Here are the photos. The notch required to be cut from the lower fascia is about 2x2 inches. You could likely get by with 2 inches wide and maybe 1 inch deep. The cut is in a no visible area. Sorry I don't have photos of the real attach hardware under the fascia.
I'm at stock ride height, and I can get the hitch tip to bottom out if going thru a deep rain gutter.

To install you have to remove the 4 (maybe) plastic fastners that hold the fascia to the underbody. This will allow the panel to flex down. Remove the spare tire and toolkit and remove the sealed plastic grommets. I had to either loosen and exhaust bracket or I slid the rubber hanger off to lower the exhaust a bit as well. Bolting the hitch up was fairly easy. There are 2 bolts that go thru the knockout holes in the spare tire well. There I gobbed some RTV on the washers to reseal the area. Then just some saddles that go over the frame rails that the hitch bolts to. No drilling, tapping or welding required.

Nice!! That might be just the ticket.

I'm switching from road to mtn bike and I'm not sure if a 29'er (sans front wheel) will fit in the trunk w/rear seats down. My road bike fits no problem. The other option might be the Audi rack with fork bike carrier. It's nice but really expensive.

My new bike (the one in the pics) the front wheel to remove it I have to remove the brake rotor bolts and the axle bolt(Cannondale Lefty). The rear axle also requires tools. I was trying not to put on a roof rack as I really don't having something muddy above my car. I ended up with a roof carrier as well to hold a stand up paddle board.
