looking at a 2012 used A4 2.0T with a chip at an an Audi Dealer in CA. The client traded it in for a new S4. One owner car but has a chip. Southern CA driving? Would that make you think the car was used pretty hard or reduce resale value or just the opposite in your opinion? The car was dealer maintained but no way of knowing how hard it was driven in southern CA? Will the chip mess up my warranty? How about gas mileage? Better or worse?

You mean the ECU mod through APR or Stasis right?
I wouldn't worry about it being driven too hard if the car is in good mechanical shape and the interior is good. Mine is APR tuned. I do drive it aggressively, but I don't treat it like a rental car. And what are you going to do with the car when you buy it? Lots of spirited driving.
Just have a shop you trust check the car out.
Edit:
The APR tune did not effect my highway mileage. It did not significantly impact my city mileage (24-26mpg) unless if I jump on it a lot.

Just off the cuff I'd say anyone who knew enough to get their Audi chipped probably knew enough to take care of their Audi. Not like my client who had an A3 and said "oh yeah, the low oil light went on like 2 weeks ago."

Is APR one of the better options? I have a shop here that has something called Uni XXX I cant remember the full name but it started with UNI XX
Will the MPG actually go up if you drive conservatively?
