I'd say the B&O speakers are probably the best I've heard in the all the vehicles I tested. I have the H&K in my AMG and the B&O blow them away. Your best best is to go to the dealership and sit in one with a factory system and one with B&O and make your choice that way. Personally, I think the price for the upgraded B&O is well worth it.

Anyone know if the B&O system can decode DTS 5.1 surround sound music?

Yes, that's one of the amazing features. The B&O sounds great but put in a 5.1 DTS DVD movie and you will be blown away. Minority Report DVD menu music loop is incredible. Those that want to hear the performance of this system should carry a 5.1 sound source when they are test driving and checking out the various sound systems.

I'd vote for the B&O. The stock system in the B8 is very lame sounding compared to the Bose upgraded system I have in my 1999 B5. But then, I AM an audiophile type, so I might be more bothered than others would be by the boomy bass and boxy midrange of the B8's stock system.

I have the B&O (full digital Nav/MOST version) and have felt it was the best OEM sound system I've ever owned. As a contrast, I've been driving an A4 loaner while my car is in service and it has the Concert system. Day and night. Even my tone-deaf wife said it sounded "muddy" compared to the B&O.

One thing I've noted, many folks feel the Sirius radio sound quality is not very good. I couldn't understand that until I heard it on the Concert system - it sounds pretty compressed to me. On my B&O, it sounds significantly better - I'd give my iPod a 9 rating, Sirius a 7 and FM a 6. On the Concert, everything sounds like a 5 at best. At least to my ears.

I felt my requirement of buying an A4 with B&O only was dead on... today I picked up a loaner '10 A4 with the base system and... omg, it sounded so bad in comparison even with the tone controls optimized. I literally leave it either off or barely audible. It is so muddy and lacking in dynamic range. Thank god I listened to my gut feeling.

Ditto here -- 2008 C350 in my case, but same conclusion. B&O is the way to go, no question about it.

definately the B&O is worth it... it feels like a concert when you rock out to some good CD's or MP3's ..don't expect to be awed by sirius, the quality of their stream is poor and will make the B&O sound poor
