It is possible that that piece of valve is gone. If you are burning a lot of oil in the combustion chamber or running a lesser quality fuel you will have a lot of carbon buildup around the exhaust valves eventually causing them to not seal 100% like they need to be. When this happens the extreme heat escaping by can literally cause that valve to disintegrate. Other times it can crack off and then ya you would probably find it in the cat.....

That appears to be the old version of the piston where the section is open above the wrist pin.
The new version has that section going complete, straight across.

yeah oil scraper rings totally clogged ... pistons all burned around the skirt and underneath,

yep, we are getting ready to measure everything and order new forged rods and pistons. Now just need to decide on a turbo.

yeah as you know its a 14 so you dont need new rods , just new pistons for the oil burning repair ..
But you are building for power so everything is out the window .. except the cheque book

oh yeah good to go ....

at the time i paid 114.00 USD for a fully loaded piston.. so for 500.00 i was good to go ... but i was just repairing, not building for power.
