Hood latch cable broke
Hi,
The hood on my 2010 A4 won't open. Found out that the lever (bottom left side of driver side) is not connected to anything. It is either that the cable snapped or some kind of connector to the lever slipped off.
Before I bring it in, I would like to try to remove some panels and see if I can "fish" the cable back. Does anyone has any experience with reconnecting the latch cable and/or how to remove the plastic panels? Thanks in advance.

Same thing happened to me a couple years ago. I took it straight to the dealer and when they called me back the next day to pick the car up they said they had a really difficult time fixing it. They also said they rarely see this happen. If i were you i would just take it in just bc of the troubles my dealer had with it- don't want to open a can of worms...

Mark, thanks for replying.
I managed to find out the cause of the problem. Basically, the latch assembly "arm" broke. This arm is connected to the end of the cable. When you pull the latch, it rotates this arm which "pulls" the cable downward (see picture).
I tried to superglued the arm but the torque generated is too much and it broke again. Hence, I will need to replace the "arm" or the arm assembly.
Do you or anyone on this board know where/who I can approach to get such a part? Thanks in advance.

I found the part!
I would like to share that I am particularly impressed with one vendor "Audi of Alexandria". As you can see, the part I am looking for is quite uncommon. Most vendor only carries/displays the more common "release lever" on their website (e.g ecstuning.com, vwparts2go.com, partsvp.com). When I call them (and even my local Audi dealer), they all say the "release lever" is the correct part. They say the lever and the "inside" assembly is one part. I was skeptical. Mind you I also email them the pic you see here so there is no misunderstanding.
Anyway, only "Audi of Alexandria" got it right. One guy named David Groves replied, says he will order the part and after he receive it, will post pictures on their website by 11 am EST (huh?). You know what he did do that...here's the link. Anyway, just wanted to share my experience so if anyone need parts in the future you can consider them.
