Default white smoke

hey guys,

so my car has developed a mind of its own and started spewing a small cloud of white smoke when i start it up. it goes away after a few seconds, and doesn't do it every time either. i'm pretty confused as to what it could be so if anyone has any ideas that'd be great.

thanks so much guys =)

White smoke is typically from coolant - could be getting in the combustion chamber from a small leak in the head gasket, that seeps in when you shut the car off and the coolant system is still hot and pressurized. You should get this looked at before it gets worse.

From my experiance, if it was your headgasket it would be really thick white smoke and it wouldnt just be at startup.

I think that my car also has a little greyish smoke on startup for a few seconds, i thought it was oil and has to do with being FI.

last month, when it was colder out, i could look in the mirror and see what looked like smoke from my exhaust. i was worried at first, but i started noticing that all other factory turbo cars on the road had the same thing going on. I wrote it off to being steam from having high temp exhaust gas because of the turbo. maybe im wrong, but it makes sense to me.
