2006 Avant strut/shock issues
Hi, I took my wife's Avant 2.0T Quattro to a local mechanic today and am waiting to hear back but driving it the other day for the first time in a while it seemed the suspension was rebounding way too much. When dropping it off today the "parking lot test" of pushing down on the front right/left resulted in the car bouncing a few times until it progressively settled down - so it looks like there's an issue with dampening at the least.
I'd say mileage is average on the car - not super high but it does get driven. Is this about the right time for struts to need replacing? FWIW my wife had taken it to the dealer a couple days ago who said the struts were fine simply because they didn't see any oil leaking from them - seems like a poor way to diagnose a strut to me. Hence it's at the local independent shop today.
Finally, if I do need to replace the struts any options I should consider? My wife drives the car like it's meant to be driven and this may be her last Audi if they don't import manual transmissions at all in the future. She loves the car and if there was a proven good option for struts I should consider I'd appreciate the advice. Thanks!

With regards to "damping" and "dampening" both are grammatically correct. Have a nice day.
