Default Good deal for 2006 A4?

I've found a 2006 A4 2.0T 6-speed with 52,000 miles on it from an independent dealer for a recently reduced price of $14,000. I'm entirely new to Audi and while the price is attractive (and it's a dream-car of mine), it's significantly lower than the suggested retail price of $22,000. I'll look at the CarFax and plan on driving this car on Monday, but I would appreciate any input from you wizards regarding any questions or concerns I should have about this deal? I know dealers are practically giving cars away right now, but this price seems almost suspiciously low. Any thoughts?

Default See if the seller will let you have the car inspected by a

mechanic you trust.

Default The price sounds about right

Kelly Blue Book retail price for a 2006 A4 2.0T 6-speed is about $22,000 depending on the options. I agree with Chinaski though, see if you can get a mechanic you trust to look at it if you have any hesitations.

Also, do the test drive with the headlights on if they're Xenons. I didn't, and after buying I found that the Xenon bulbs were starting to fail and gave me "headlight dipped" errors on the display. Only cost me $100 and 2 hours time to fix, but I wish I'd caught it before buying so I could have negotiated that into the price.

Default price is right IF ...

no hidden problems. 52K is already high mileage in economic terms. Out of warranty, if something goes in the future could be expensive esp on an Audi. I had a whole saga buying my used 06 2.0T, very pleased w it and no problems now but after I bought it discovered it needed new control arm, alignment, etc. that the Audi dealer I paid to inspect it missed. After 2 weeks of a 4-way fight (me, the seller, Audi dealer and Audi USA), a different Audi dealer determined it was covered by warranty so got it fixed w/out cost.

I recommend you pay the $150-$200 to have an Audi dealer do a PPP (pre-purchase inspection), make sure they list in writing everything they find esp since you're out of warranty.

BTW, Kelly values on Audis are generally about 25%-40% above market reality. So take that 22 w a grain of salt.

Default KBB Audi values 25%-40% above market reality???...Not true.

At least not on a 2006 A4 2.0T 6MT with 52k mi. Find me a nice 2006 with with 52k for $13,200 (40% below KBB) and I'll buy it in a heartbeat!

Default i wish it wasn't the case, but this seems accurate...

i recently got a trade in quote of $11.5k on my A4 (nicely equipped MT6Q) with 49000 miles. granted i will do better with the OEM wheels on (running scratched up rs4 reps) and a windshield that isn't cracked, but still, i didn't expect to be upside down on this car.

Default Re: Get your checkbook out.....

Yeah that's the one I'm looking at, it's about 30 minutes from where I live. Unfortunately there aren't any Audi dealerships nearby to inspect but I'm going to try to find a mechanic.

What kind of maintenance should be done around 45k to 50k or would be expected in the next 10k for this car?
