Default Engine snub mount

Has anyone replaced the engine snub mount? I have the one I used on my B6 and wondered if it was the same and if it made any difference on the B7. It's the one from APR.

Default IIRC the engine snub mount is different for the B7.

From what I've read/heard it does help.

Default Just thought to look on APR's website and noticed

that the part numbers are the same for B6 and B7 snub mounts. I might give it a try and see what kind of difference it makes, if any.

From APR's website, the SM number is the part:
2002
A4 1.8T SM100004 $49.00

2003
A4 1.8T SM100004 $49.00

2004
A4 1.8T SM100004 $49.00

2005
A4 1.8T SM100004 $49.00

2006
A4 2.0T SM100004 $49.00

Default Basically, yes. You guys have much more solid drivetrain feel then we do in the B6ers to start...

with though. I couldnt believe how much the slop is elimated in the B7. I flogged one for a day and it felt more stable (drivetrain not suspension) than mine with the snub and the RS4 motor mounts. cheers! Mike

Default I replaced mine....

I got the ECS snub mount and installed it in a 2.0T Tiptronic. Even though it does improve the shifting smoothness, I found it also adds a noticable amount of vibration throughout the cabin when idling and especially in reverse. Anyone have any suggestions on how to eliminate such vibrations?

Default Yes, you simply unbolt the "cup" it sits in and center the snub perfectly in ...

the middle of the cup so it makes NO contact on ALL sides of the cup, then retighten down the cup. It is common for installlers to tighten the cup down while making conact with the top of the mount. This will cause vibration at idle. The ECS, the purems, and the APR snub will not vibrate after you do this. The Neuspeed one needs to be shaved to accomplish this. cheers! Mike

Default I agree. Not sure if the APR snub mount with improve anything.

It might just add vibration to the whole car.
