Is the DV going in my car??
I started to hear a noise under 1/2 to full throttle about a month ago. At first I wasn't sure if there even was a noise it was so quit.
Well it has gradually gotten louder so there is no mistake that a noise is present. It kind of sounds like a "hiss along with a vibration". There is no actual vibration to feel but the sound of one.
2 days ago the CEL came on for 10 miles went out for 8 and came back on to stay. The car seems to run fine, good power but might take a bit longer time to start pulling hard (more turbo lag) then it used to have. I'm not sure if this is actual or in my head. But I'm fairly sure it is more sluggish off the line.
Car info:
47,000 miles
APR Chip that is run in 93 mode. Chipped at 30,000 miles.
Never changed 1 part.
The new factory DV are the best to use, Correct?

I found a DV at ECS Tuning in OH for $75 including shipping.
I installed it this morning. I could not find any rips/holes in the diaphragm of the one I took out. It looked good.
However, it seems to have a bit more low ind torque. Anyway the noise that I heard is still there.
Question:: Can you hear the DV bypassing the turbo in a chipped car?
As far the CEL goes, If you go back to stock mode the CEL will go out after a few starts. When you go back to 93 mode the CEL will come back on in about 6 miles.
The car still runs very well. So I'm going to have to take it in to get the codes read.
ANY IDEAS???

I would scan the ECU and see why the check engine light came on. Don't blindly replace parts until you can figure out what the problem is.
A quick boost log with VAG-Com would have told you if the DV was going bad.

exactly. You'll know when your DV is going bad. It'll sound like it's shooting laser beams. Instead of the build up of boost and the diverting of it (the steady "pshhh") it'll be broken up and sound like a laser beam going off more like "ps-sh-sh-shhh" LOL. Seriously tho, VAG IT.

Definitely scan it with Vagcom, my other thought which, would cause similar issues is if your wastegate is going. That would create more lag and prevent you from hitting your boost targets.
