Default Drop In Air Filters

I heard a rumor that the filters that use oil (K&N) are not the best option as they can "gum" up the air flow meter. Is there any truth to this? If so, what is the best alternative? Thanks!

Default There has been truth in the past

I don't know if it holds true now though. Audi typically makes a really good flowing airbox with high flowing filters so nothing is really needed.

Default I used to have one in my Maxima

and MAF was ok in the 36 months that I had the car. I guess just don't over-oil it after cleaning it.

They can be a problem if you over-oil them.
