Default Driver's side rear brake light...

My wife's 2005.5 2.0L avant's driver's side brake light went out. I thought easy enough. Took out the light and brought a bulb to the parts store. Bought three new bulbs installed 3 new bulbs and it still didn't work. I was puzzled. I swapped the new bulbs into the other passenger side and they worked so it wasn't the bulbs.

I then disconnected the connector to the brake light housing. Well, one of the four pins the connector connects into was broken. Now I know why it doesn't work. Now how to fix it...

I think I need a new tail light housing (part 8e9 945 095.d) since the pin that broke is attached to this part. This is the part that clips into the light housing. I'm wondering if I have to buy the whole house or just this piece that the bulbs attach into.

My other question is any idea get a new connector? The connector has a part number (600 973 704 A), but I don't get anything when googling. My plan is to cut off the connector which has a piece of the pin jammed in it and solder on the new connector. If I can find one.

I may just have to go to the dealer and pay who knows how much for a connector.

The top blurry pic is of the connector. The bottom pic is the part that bulbs fit into that then clips to the red brake light housing. I'm hopefully I can just buy the part in the 2nd pic below, but without a part number on it my hope may turn to buying the whole housing.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Calling a used parts supplier/car wrecker place might be the quickest and cheapest way to get a replacement part. They are super easy to remove from a wrecked vehicle and there's no risk that the used part won't fit.

Actually, you can just replace the bulbholder portion of the taillight assembly. Part number is 8E9-945-257-C $38.07 and we have them in stock! The connector can be ordered and would cost $2.42 but it comes empty (no wires or pins). To get you the wires and pins we would need an idea of the size of the wires and pins in the connector (it is the only part that Audi doesn't tell us what you need). The wires with pins cost between $7.00 and $15.00 for 1 wire with 2 pin ends (cut it in half and you have 2 wires with pins). Let us know if this helps and if you have any other questions.
