Default Brake pad wear sensor

I know I need to do the front brakes on my A4. I have not done them on this car yet. The wear sensor light came on yesterday. My questions... Is the sensor part of the replacement pad? If not, now that mine has caused the indicator to go off does that mean it needs to be replaced along with the pads? Thanks!!!

There is a thin wire in the front pads. When you wear down a pad the wire will wear away and open the circuit and the light comes on. You have about 1000 miles left to the pad at this point.

Also, the sensor wire should be included in the new pad you buy. As you can see from any of our wide pad selection each set includes the new sensor wire. If you want a recommendation for a fantastic uprated pad - Hawk HPS - also available from that link and pictured below. We sell loads of Hawk HPS pads. They stop great and have minimal dusting. They don't squeak and they are OEM replacements that fit your calipers perfectly. If you are venturing out to the performance pad market, definitely stop and try Hawk HPS pads. I've run them on several cars and have been very happy each time.
